Vale Connections On New Years Honour List

Every year, the new years honours list is published with people recognised for their work, sporting or career achievements.

Andy Murray, Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis- Hill are the main names featured on this years list, but the list also recognises the achievements of some people with Vale connections or who live in the Vale.

Professor David Burton Smith, who lives in Barry, a writer, broadcaster and arts administrator. Will be recognised for services to Culture and the Arts in Wales. Awarded ‘Commanders of the Order of the British Empire.’

David Smith for services to Boccia. David was educated at Barry Grammar School. Awarded ‘Members of the Order of the British Empire.’

Dr Peter Dickson, from Llantwit Major. Principal in General Practice and Senior Policy Adviser, National Clinical Assessment Service. For services to Primary Care and the National Clinical Assessment Service. Awarded ‘Members of the Order of the British Empire.’

Gweneira, Mrs Baty, from Cowbridge, for services to the community particularly Elderly and Young People in Cowbridge and Llanblethian, Vale of Glamorgan. Awarded ‘Medallist of the Order of the British Empire.’
