The Barry Round Table charity calendar is officially on sale and priced at just £5. After months of ideas, choosing images and designs, it was launched earlier this month.
The idea for the calendar came about in the summer with the synopsis being ‘Barry and Proud’. Anthony Price, a member of Barry Round Table said the following:
“We thought it could be a brilliant idea to engage and interact with our local community and raise funds for individuals, community groups and local causes. We held a photographic competition open to anyone with the theme being “Barry And Proud”, and the people who entered did not let us down.”
Each month has a different feature image with all images being sent in by the public. Barry Round Table only has 8 members in the organisation, so a lot of hard work an thought went into the process, as each member works full time.
“With only 8 members of Barry Round Table and all of us working full time, a lot of hard work was involved. We first contacted local businesses to ask if they would like to support the Barry Round Table’s Charity Calendar, a lot of them were only to pleased to help us raise funds for our charity with awareness and support for our local community. We spent a lot of time choosing the pictures, they were amazing. The pictures were then chosen, designs of the overall calendar were chosen, costing for printing were received. We are now promoting and selling the calendar, the more we sell the more we can help the worthy causes with Every penny going back into supporting our town….Barry”
Anthony told TDV that he doesn’t have an overall favourite picture but he likes the feature images from January, March and September which is a picture of a dog looking over a spectacular Barry Island sunset and was the overall winner. Congrats Dan Jenkins!
Every purchase of the calendar goes back into the local community, as Barry Round Table aim to ‘do more’ within Barry. Anthony commented:
“By purchasing each calendar all money raised will go directly towards supporting community groups, individuals and worthy causes. A small example of the community groups we have supported are Colcot ABC, Barry Town United Academy, purchasing a defibrillator and providing training for a selection of individuals this are based at Barry Town Football Club, Ty lolo, Action for Children-Barry, Barry Boys Comprehensive School, Holton road Murals, Dad’s First aid Training, Scout/cubs/girl guides/sea cadets…. Just to name a few.”
