Stampeding Round Tablers Take on More Community Challenges

Over the past year Barry Round Table members have supported #OurCommunity as much as possible. This past weekend has been no different – it started off with a cold early morning start travelling to Chepstow racecourse to take part in the Chepstow Stampede in aid of Round Table Children’s Wish.

United with fellow members from Chepstow and Newport Round Tables, we took on the running and obstacle challenge to raise funds for Round Table Children’s Wish – a truly brilliant charity providing handcrafted wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Children in South Wales have received a variety of wishes granted – including the opportunity to become a match day mascot, have playhouses built, the latest games consoles and trips to Disneyland Paris.

Scott Bosher, community support member at Barry Round Table said: “During the 5K run the team tackled a variety obstacles including muddy puddles, hay bail walls, wooden A frames and tunnels and all of us completed it – not bad at all given our lack of fitness! Our passion was present in heaps though and so far we have managed to raise around £200 for RTCW – and are still collecting monies in.

After a quick wash, change and food we hot footed it over to Barry Island for the Grand Opening of the Barry Eye. Our sponsorship involvement in this project to support local charities and the community was a ‘no-brainer’ and we were really impressed with the Barry Eye and the views from the top.”

We’re also in the process of completing our first charity calendar which is due to be printed by the end of November ready for Christmas and 2017 – more information on that to come.
