It’s been a while since Mack Events have brought any top guest speakers to Barry, in fact the last one was Matt Le Tissier back in October 2014. If you’ve ever been to one of their nights, you know how good they can be, our personal favourite was ‘Razor’ Ruddock before GlastonBARRY 2014. If you were there, you will remember just how funny he was.
This weekend coming, former Liverpool FC player Alan Kennedy is set to come to Barry to guest speak at a small and intimate talk at St Francis Hall. He’ll be giving a talk about his Liverpool playing days and no doubt he’ll have an awful lot of funny, comical and interesting stories to tell. Liverpool fan, co-owner and director of Mack Events, Ross Mackintosh, is extremely excited about Alan’s appearance and had the following to say:
“We are really excited to be bringing another legend to Barry. The word legend gets thrown around a lot these days, but Alan Kennedy is a Liverpool Legend, he’s won 5 league titles,4 league cups and 2 European cups and not to mention he was the first player ever to score the winning goal in two European cups finals (for the younger generation -The Champions league) against Real Madrid in 1981 and Roma in 1984. He played in the arguably the best team in British history, which dominated English football and Europe. Playing alongside Dalglish, Rush, Hansen and Souness to name a few.”
“Alan is also very highly regarded on the after dinner speaking scene, he’s always mentioned as one of the best and also one of the nicest guys. We have chatted to him over the phone and he couldn’t be more accommodating and he’s looking to coming to Barrybados.”
“We have brought some big names to Barry, Matt Le Tissier, Jamie Roberts, Paul Merson, Ronnie Whelan, Jan Molby and Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock. At all of our events we make sure everybody meets the guest speaker, chances to have photos and signings, you don’t have to pay extra for meet and greets or any of that business, we encourage everyone to go and have a chat with them and it’s amazing to see people meet their heroes. People have come up to us and said ‘can we just go and have a chat and can he sign my shirt?’, they can’t believe its so relaxed.”
“Our evening with Alan will consist of live acoustic music, Alan’s talk about his playing days and behind the scenes, Q&A with Alan, plus a sports Memorabilia Auction with some amazing pieces and also a charity raffle.”
“The event sold out after only a week, but we have just had 5 tickets returned from people who can’t make it, so they are looking to sell them at face value, £20, so drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can pass them onto you.”
“We would also like to say a big thank you to our sponsors – South Wales Karting Centre, we have just been up to the track in Llandow and it’s an incredible set up on our doorstep, check them out at http://swkc.co.uk.”
The night looks so good, we’ve teamed up with Mack Events to offer 2 FREE tickets. All you have to do is answer the following question in the comments, either on the article or on Facebook. Or reply via twitter.
The question is as follows:
In 1981 European Cup Final Kennedy scored the winning goal against which iconic club?
Good luck 🙂
