Dinas ladies make it to another final following on from yet again a solid defensive performance.
With the kick off delayed the ladies had an extra hour of waiting around but you would have never noticed this as the villagers came out of the blocks at 100mph. Having a number of changes forced upon the squad from last Sundays match yet again the strength in depth was vital.
Laura Murray managed to link up with demi bounds but instead of pulling the ball back she fired into the side netting. Gemma Crowley and Murray were causing a lot of problems early on, turning the visitors back four as Crowley found space.
Dinas welcomed Beccy Rees back for her first start of the season after a 6 years lay off and Beccy put in a superb shift winning her midfield battle. Fellow midfielder Jo jones had a point to prove as she formed a great partnership with Rees.
Dinas’s season has been built on a solid defensive unit that limits opposition to half chances and pop shots. Splott have pace in their attack but Beare, Tuck, Cox and Allen stuck to their jobs very well. It took 35 minutes for the visitors to get their first shot off which Naomio Wilson had to be alert to.
The game as a contest was evenly matched as both defences were performing very well in the first half.
Five minutes into the second half Dinas made their first changes. Bringing on Taylor page and laura lewis for Demi Bounds and Gemma Crowley. Both had great displays but the home side needed to change their shape to break down a stubborn defence.
With in minutes this had the desired affect as Page found space and time to hit a cross that looped over the keepers head into the back of the net. Alicia Cox and Laura lewis linked up very well down the right in the later stages keeping splott on the back foot.
Dinas then settled down into two banks of four and hit the visitors on the break. Molly Chapman was vital in this with a work rate that is very hard to match.
Murray put the ball in the back of the net but was adjusted off side. The home side stood strong and high pressing from Chapman and Murray saw the ball drop to leanne pattermore just out side the box who saw her shot blocked just yards off the line.
As the clock ticked down Dinas showed how to see a game out keeping it high and wide.
Lady of the game Beccy Rees as she rolled back the years.
The Girls now look forward to another final in the pm of the 7th may after the young dinas boys under 14’s play their final in the morning.
