Bryn Hafren hosted a special event this week for the SEREN group. This a group of sixth formers from schools across the Vale identified as more able and talented to support them through their sixth form and helping them to gain places at Russell Group Universities – some of the best universities in the country or perhaps even at Oxford and Cambridge.
The students watched a presentation given by Cambridge University. They were informed of the teaching practices at Cambridge and how their one to one teaching was more personal and differed from other universities’ lectures.
The pupils enjoyed networking with like minded pupils across the Vale. Shanjidah Ahmed said, “It was a great experience, which provided plenty of information to allow me to consider my pathways after A Levels. I was able to engage with the presentation and I am now thoroughly informed about my opinions for the future.”
This was the second meeting this academic year and students can look forward to future events based at Bryn Hafren including preparing for the interview process. Carys Slack said that she enjoys these sessions as the information is more relevant to the pupils coming directly from the university and that she is grateful for the opportunities provided by the Seren network and Bryn Hafren School.
