Following on from our previous article in regards to Andrew Selby’s forthcoming fight against unbeaten Hermogenes Castiillo. The Daily Vale managed to grab a few words from Andrew himself in between his hectic training schedule.
The fight is on the undercard of Josh Taylor vs Dave Ryan for the vacant Commonwealth super-lightweight title. Barry native Selby, doesn’t know too much about his opponent but has been training intensively over the past weeks, he told The Daily Vale:
“All I know is that he is southpaw and that’s makes it a difficult fight, and he is an experienced fighter like myself.
“Yes I am confident because I have trained a solid 8 weeks in camp and have been very focused. “

Undefeated British Flyweight Champion Selby, seems very confident ahead of the fight, but Castillo has already gone on record to Boxing News Online to state he plans on causing a big upset:
“I am travelling to Scotland to cause a big upset, I will knockout Selby on October 21st and it will be beautiful,”
The fight is being put on Barry McGuigans Cyclone Promotions and will be screened live from the meadow bank arena, Edinburgh on Channel 5.
Former Team GB member Selby also confirmed his plans after his fight with Hermogenes Castiillo, he told us the following:
“After this fight I will be fighting on the undercard of George Groves in Wembley Stadium on November the 18th and that will be a title fight.”
The fight will also be screened on channel 5, but Selby hopes to have another bout in Cardiff after Christmas.
“I would like to fight in Cardiff after Christmas for a title like European or maybe defend my British title.”
Everyone here at The Daily Vale wishes Andrew all the best in the fight and we hope to see him fighting again in the ‘diff soon. C’mon Selby!
