Are you brave enough to run into the cold Barry Island sea? well if you are, the New Years day swim is returning. It’s an annual event that has been around since 1984 and always attracts thousands of swimmers to Barry Island.
This year the charity of choice is Headway, who support brain injury survivors, more info could be found here. The mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan will officially start the swim!
The swim itself kicks off at the usual time of 12pm, but there will be a few other activities on the day.
If you’re a runner, the Barry Parkrun will be holing a 5km run, and there will be a FREE fitness session courtesy of Joel Palmer fitness. The challenge has been set for anyone willing to do all 3?
There is no need to register for the event, just turn up and join in the fun. Everyone will meet under the Western Shelter. Please allow plenty of time to park up and get ready. All the shops and cafes so you can enjoy a refreshment both before and after. Fancy dress is always encouraged too.
