On a weekend on cancelled matches, our U14 girls secured a second cup final appearance for the season.
Barry Town Utd Dragons U14 team secured a second cup final appearance for the season with a dominant semi-final win away at Gwent side Llanyrafon.
On a weekend of postponements that effected U13 and U16 cup matches, the U14 girls went into their League Cup Semi-Final in excellent form and controlled this fixture from start to finish to add to their South Wales FA Cup final place.
Llanyrafon struggled to cope with Barry’s intensity and attacking threat with strikers Lauren Harris (4 goals) and Phoebe Curtis (2 goals) causing havoc in the home team’s defence. They were supported by a dominant midfield unit who also got on the scoresheet with Ella Hilliard (2), Taite Trivett and Olivia Barnett all on the scoresheet making it a comprehensive cup win. They will now take on Baglan Boys & Girls club who recorded a good win against Villa Dino.
In other matches played this weekend the Ladies first team were defeated 3-1 against Cwmbran Celtic in the Women’s Plate Cup Semi-Final and now they have one more fixture next week at home to Penybont to end their season on a high. Yesterday’s results mean our ladies will finish second in the Women’s Welsh Premier League which is a great effort given the club’s first season at this level and thoughts will be on planning a promotion challenge again next year.
Two out of three Under 12 teams managed to play their League Cup fixtures also and both securing positive results. Barry Town Utd travelled to Newport to play Albion Rovers and in a physical game on a boggy pitch showed their resilience to come out 3-1 winners. The BTU Cardiff team battled hard and came away with an excellent point following a 0-0 draw with Pencoed.
Well done to all the teams this weekend and hopefully the weather improves for everyone to play next weekend.
