Penarth Rocks – Sarah Brown

If you don’t know by now, we’re sponsoring Penarth Rocks and we’re super excited. To celebrate this, we’re going to be taking a look at the artists playing at the event, as well as speaking to Mack Events themselves over the coming week.

So we’re kicking off the the week with an interview from the very talented Sarah Brown.

When did you first realise you had a passion for singing and performing?

Definitely since I was a child. I used to annoy my family re-enacting musicals and making them watch, I must’ve been about 5.

Which artists are you influenced by?

I love strong powerful vocals so I love all the old school divas like Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald and then of course Whitney, Beyonce, Christina, so many!

When did you start gigging, do you remember your first gig?

I don’t think you ever forget your first! I was living in London doing backing vocals for an upcoming dance artist. We had to wear the most crazy outfits and I felt so ridiculous but once I was up there, I was so proud and the buzz was amazing, I knew I wanted to do this forever!

What are your favourite songs to perform?

It all depends on the kind of gig I’m doing. If its a chilled out set, I love to sing Son of A Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield. It always makes people smile. If its a band gig, then you can’t beat Tina Turner ‘Proud Mary’!

How does it feel to be involved at Penarth rocks?

I am so excited to be performing at Penarth Rocks! I went last year and I loved it, the atmosphere was incredible so I’m pretty honoured to have been asked to play this year!

Where can people catch you performing in the future?

I perform so much these days I’m terrible at remembering my schedule! I usually just direct people to my website, I have a ‘live’ page where I list all of my upcoming gigs

Tickets for Penarth Rocks are available for £15 and available at
