GlastonBARRY 2017 – Full Line Up & Information

Running for the fifth consecutive year, GlastonBARRY Live Music Festival has swiftly become one of the hottest and most talked about tribute festivals in the UK. It began as an idea over ten years ago when cousins Matt Blumberg and Ross Mackintosh wanted to create a music festival in their beloved home town of Barry. After a few years of deliberation, the first GlastonBARRY was launched in September 2013 at The Memo Arts Centre, Barry, and sold out almost immediately. The second festival was held at Romilly Park in July 2014 and the tickets sold out in an astonishing 9 days! The boys knew at that point that they were on to something special! The festival has continued to be a huge success and has grown significantly each year. This year’s event has a capacity of 4000 per day, with 12 of the UK’s best tribute bands plus local support acts, two stages, special guests and some big surprises!

GlastonBarry is the flagship event for Mack Events, who have also brought some huge names from the world of sport to the area, having held evenings with high profile stars such as Paul Merson, Matt Le Tissier, Neil Razor Ruddock and Jamie Roberts. The company are also involved in a number of other successful events in the local area including Penarth Rocks Music Festival and Ice central, Barry.

Ross Mackintosh said “GlastonBARRY 2017 is by far the biggest event we have ever done! We’re working with the best bands we have ever worked with! We have a much bigger capacity, and have twelve of the UK’s biggest and best tribute acts plus local support acts over two stages. We have kept the prices very low and that wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our sponsors. We have done a lot of research and you won’t find a more reasonably priced tribute festival in the whole of the UK! Just to put our prices into context, one of our bands this year are charging £25 to see them individually on their UK tour, with GlastonBarry you get to see them plus all the other bands over the whole two days, for the same price! That’s what sets us apart from everyone, we try to make everything very affordable including the drink prices! At each of our events we try to create something that we would love to go to ourselves!”.

Matt Blumberg said “We are both blown away by the support and response we have had for GlastonBARRY over the past 5 years. It’s really caught the imagination of everyone in South Wales and we have people travelling from all around the UK to attend! In previous years we’ve even had people flying in from California, New Zealand, Spain and Tonga to attend the festival! It’s quite amazing! We want to say a massive thank you to our main sponsors CJCH Solicitors, Barry Training Services Ltd and Sterling Commercial Finance”.

This year’s GlastonBARRY is being held at The Mack Events Marquee at Romilly Park, Barry on Saturday 29th of July and Sunday 30th of July.
