Two current Barry Town united players have helped Wales win the inaugural Home Nations Futsal Championship, which took place at Cardiff City’s House of Sport this past weekend.
Chris Hugh who joined from Merthyr Town & former Cardiff City FC Academy player Tyrrell Webbe, who also joined this summer, were part of the squad that gained victories over Scotland, Northern Ireland and finally England, which helped Wales win the inaugural futsal Championship.
It was really fitting for the club, as Barry Town Academies start playing futsal this week. The current Town Captain James Saddler is a full futsal international, but is currently taking a break from futsal, and now the academy players have 3 role models to look up to.

Barry Town United Manager Gavin Chesterfield said the following.
Firstly congratulations to Richard Gunney, his staff and his players, naturally I am especially delighted for both Chris and Tyrrell; winning the inaugural home nations tournament is something to be very proud of. The achievement itself is timely given our academy teams move indoors for their Futsal season starting this weekend and pleasingly Chris, Tyrell’s & Captain James Saddler’s knowledge and expertise in this format of the game will be shared with them over the coming weeks.
The players attention now turns to Barry Town United’s fixture against Goytre United this weekend, December 10th.
