Barry Town Ladies U16’s Prepare for FAW Cup Semi-Final

Barry Town Ladies U16 girls take on Rhydyfelin in the FAW Cup Semi-Final at the Weekend being held at Taffs Well FC on Sunday 5th March 2pm kick off.

Barry go into this much anticipated semi-final in great form having a 100% winning record for the season to date and currently sit joint-top of the U16 League with their opponents on Sunday.

Rhydyfelin themselves are having an excellent season and have already secured a South Wales FA Cup Final place where they will also take on Barry at the end of April.

This match will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams and the match offers the victors a chance to play in the Welsh Cup final later in the season.

Both teams will be in confident mood going into the game and Barry manager Luke Williams is expecting an entertaining game. “We are really looking forward to the game on Sunday which will be between the strongest two teams in South Wales at U16 level. Both teams play a good brand of football and it should be a great advert for the girls game and exciting for the neutrals watching.”

In the quarter final Barry edged out West Wales side, Rhos 3-2 with Rhydyfelin defeating Abergavenny Town. Despite this being the first meeting of the season between the two teams both clubs have had regular battles over recent years and this fixture is the biggest to date.

Luke Williams commented:

“Both teams already know lots about each other given the matches over the last two seasons. It will be down to who performs better on the day. We believe with the squad that we have we are more than capable of getting the result we are looking for and its a matter of executing the game plan on the day,”

The match will take place at Welsh League ground Taffs Well FC with a 2pm kick off. Entry is £3 per adult and free for U16’s. Come along and support the girls as they look to secure a place in the final.
