Following on from part 1, we’ve managed to get enough information on music acts to have played in Barry to start a part 2. So here we go…………
1992, BBC radio 1 roadshow on Barry Island!
Apparently, they have more songs other than their Christmas hit
OK, this a slight twist from the truth, they played at the old ‘Powerstation’ as ‘Tragic Love Company’ before they had any fame as the Phonics.
Whigfield played at The Memo on…………a Wednesday night! Who booked it for a Wednesday?
5 So Solid Crew
Played at the old Acropolis club on Barry Island. 2 multiplied by 10 plus 1, Romeo done.
6 The Automatic
Played at the old Waterfront music events, long before the likes of GlastonBARRY
7 3 of a kind
These one hit wonders played at the latter days of the vibe events.
8 Urban Cookie Collective
Another mid 90’s act to play at the Memo! They didn’t have the secret to anymore hits after this though.
9 Roll Deep
One of the final acts to ever play at The Vibe events
10 Tom Jones
Cast your minds back to 1963, right, you probably weren’t even born yet. But he played at the Memo as Tommy Scott and the Senators.
Don’t forget to check out part 1 here and do let us know if you remember any of these or any acts we’ve missed!
